English Premier League started 2 weeks ago and Asenal did not well for the first two games they got only 1 point. They draw 1 – 1 with Newcastle and lose Liverpool 0 : 2 last week. The main player like Fabregas and Nasri was moved to other club. Manchester United are trying to keep their title by increase their performmance and player abilities. Welback are doing a good job for last meeting with Tottenham and Rooney still the key player form Manchester United. For last 3 games of Arsenal is : W:1, D:0, L:0 and Manchester United is W:3, D:0, L:0. However Manchester United seem better then Arsenal but there’s so much potential behind this meeting. It’s hard to get 3 point from Old Trafford but we can not say that Arsenal can’t beat Manchester United. You can see more detail obout these two club below.

It had minimal impact (in fact, this might very well be the first you’ve heard of it), but given some of last season’s dramas — there were managers who made shrieking pantomime dames look like subtle artisans — the scheme was revived last week. “There are always going to be incidents,” said Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore last week, but he was “confident” that players, managers and referees were committed to improving relations/not behaving like infants.

Hmm. Didn’t last long, did it? We’re only three days in to the new season and we’ve already seen more farcical overreaction than an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. Saturday’s game between Newcastle and Arsenal was so dreadful that the crowd might have been grateful for the intervention of a 22-man brawl, but in the cold light of day it all looks a bit pitiful: Gervinho’s petulant slap, Joey Barton responding like he’d been hit by a haymaker, Steven Taylor miming an elbow at the ref then trying to sidestep the post-match brouhaha by saying “I didn’t see a thing.”

Earlier in the day we’d seen Bolton’s Ivan Klasnic take a ridiculous nuzzle in the gut from QPR defender Clint Hill as if he’d just stood in the way of a high-speed train, and on Sunday West Brom’s Shane Long reacted as if Tom Cleverley (who actually pulled out of the challenge) had come in swinging a hammer, adopting the fetal position until the free kick was given then trotting into the penalty area. Frank Lampard might actually have got a penalty had he waited until after Stoke’s Marc Wilson stepped in to drop to the floor. These are just the ones I remembered to jot down.

Indiscipline is one thing (if anyone deserved a red card this weekend, it was Alex Song, for mindlessly treading on Barton), but this kind of stuff is just pathetic. Do people really need to sign up to an initiative to stop embarrassing themselves? Players and their managers seem to spend 38.6 percent of every season moaning about refereeing decisions and the rest of the time dishing out playground stuff or throwing themselves about trying to ensure that the referee makes a mistake. It comes to something when you start fondly reminiscing about the days when players had the decency to throw a proper punch and get on with it.

Top strike

A tough call, despite the fact that the opening weekend of the season brought us nine goals fewer than it did a year ago: there was a great deal to admire in Gary Cahill’s first goal for Bolton since March, a shot teed up with the left and curled beautifully into the far side of the net with the right — not bad for a center half — but it was not quite as dumbfounding as Sebastian Larsson’s equalizer for Sunderland against Liverpool, a backpedaling, midair volley that left Pepe Reina with no chance. [Note: had the shot at the end of Stewart Downing's surging run (which began with John Flanagan teasing Lee Cattermole before releasing the ball) dipped under the bar instead of crashing in to it, it would have been a shoo-in.]

Standout performance

He may have ended up on the losing team, but West Brom’s Somen Tchoyi did his reputation no harm at all against Manchester United on Sunday. There can’t have been one of United’s six defenders who didn’t find Tchoyi breathing down his neck at some point; the Cameroon midfielder might have lost his way occasionally (wasting a late chance by dallying too long with the ball), but it was one of his powerful runs that laid on Shane Long’s goal.

Best save

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was a busy man in the second half against Chelsea on Sunday, keeping out long-range drives from Mikel, Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba. His most impressive moment came with about 20 minutes remaining, when Chelsea were really turning up the heat and a winning goal seemed inevitable. Coming into the left of the penalty area, Nicolas Anelka sent the ball arcing toward the top-right corner and Begovic somehow managed to tip it on to the bar and away. Former No.1 Thomas Sorensen could find it even harder than he anticipated to wrestle his place back.

Not again

Even the least imaginative scriptwriters in Hollywood might have thought twice about an injury two minutes and 20 seconds in to Keiron Dyer’s Queens Park Rangers debut. The sight of him being carried off on a stretcher, weeping beneath a towel, was not one the audience wanted to see. Fortunately the scans found not a metatarsal out of place, so he should be back fairly swiftly. And it was gratifying to see fellow treatment-room regular Jonathan Woodgate, turning out for Stoke for the first time since his switch from Tottenham Hotspur, perform superbly at the heart of the defense.

Best celebration

A word for Norwich manager Paul Lambert’s reaction to Wes Hoolahan’s equalizer against Wigan, a delightfully unplanned blend of the tennis fist-pump and a Highland jig.

Quote unquote

“Welcome to England” — Alex Ferguson responds to questions about David de Gea’s shaky performance against West Bromwich Albion. Once Shane Long’s not-especially-powerful shot had squirmed under the goalkeeper shortly before half time, the Baggies did everything they could to unsettle him. Ferguson breezily recalled Peter Schmeichel getting similar treatment when he first arrived, but the smile did not convincingly hide concerns that de Gea’s in-at-the-deep-end introduction hadn’t been such a brilliant idea after all.

Vital statistics

Three — the number of penalties awarded on the opening weekend.

One — the number of penalties scored on the opening weekend. Wigan’s Ben Watson was the only player to convert. On the other hand, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez skied his spot-kick, while Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson saved Kevin Doyle’s effort — though couldn’t stop Wolves’ impressive comeback.

Whether out of desperation or just a deal gone wrong, every NBA team has a player signed on its roster that it would probably like to give back or have a chance to do the contract over again.

Not every team can be perfect when it comes to signing an All-Star or your average role player because you just can’t judge how well they’ll play once you sign them.

They could either have sudden injury concerns, have struggles integrating with the team or just plain got overpaid for having one good season, as in the case of a player like Jerome James, who had a quality postseason one year and was then given $30 million to do relatively nothing for the rest of his career.

It’s a tough job signing the right players and giving them the right amount of money for their role on the team. Obviously the superstars will get the correct amount of money, but even they could get paid too much.

Take, for instance, Baron Davis, who was making $16 million for a season despite never leading any of his teams past the semifinals. Organizations will get desperate when looking for a player to lead the way, as happened in the case of Davis and the Warriors, or even today with Joe Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks.

Constructing this article depressed me in so many ways because it made me realize just how easy making millions of dollars can be in the sporting world. There are players that are playing less than 20 minutes per game and riding the bench for the majority of the season that are making nearly $10 million a season, and it’s really surprising to see just how badly some organizations just throw their money around without a care.

Before I sadden myself even more, let’s just get this started, shall we?

It doesn’t matter if it’s the NBA, NFL, NHL or competitive cribbage, the old adage always rings true, defense wins championships.

The Dallas Mavericks may not have been the best defensive team in the league, but they were smart on defense and did what they needed to do to win the championship.

You can have a great team that is all offense, but it is unlikely that you will have a shot a title. That’s why the Phoenix Suns came so close for a few years but ultimately fell short of the Finals.

If you are looking to build up a stellar defensive team, the best way to do it is pick up already established defensive players rather than taking your luck in a young fellow, but you can also destroy your team by overpaying for a guy who can’t play defense.

So if you are hoping that your team makes the moves to be a good defensive team, hope that they don’t pick up multiple guys on this list, as it could turn them into an all offense, no defense team overnight.

One of the most widely discussed trade targets of the last year has been Philadelphia’s point forward Andre Iguodala.

Some feel his time as a 76er has run its course, and there are a few teams who would certainly be interested in his services if that’s true.

Here are five that I think would be much better with this great defender, passer and finisher…

With the 2011-12 NBA season possibly a long time away from starting, we felt that it was in our best interests to point out the 10 players in the league with the best possible chance of taking home an MVP next season.

It’s becoming a lot more difficult to judge who’s going to obtain one of these awards as well with players as young as 21 years old actually contending and even going on to win as in the case of 22-year-old Derrick Rose who took it this past season. In only his third season, Rose averaged 25 points and eight assists per game while also leading his Chicago Bulls to a No. 1 seed and the NBA’s best record at 62-20.

It was the first time in three seasons that a different player had won with LeBron James taking two MVP’s prior to Rose.

The competition is heating up as any of the 10 players listed could contend for the MVP next season. They all possess some sort of specific skills that allow them to be regarded as the right material to be named the league’s most valuable player. The main reason why a player would win MVP is mainly because of their leadership skills and just how well they can lead one of the NBA’s most successful teams. In last seasons case, Rose was somehow able to turn an average Bulls club into the league’s top threat.

In no particular order—I can’t stress that enough—here are the 10 players with the best chance at taking home the MVP next season and a few honorable mentions to go along with it so not everyone feels left out.

Residents surrounding the Oakway Golf Course have been protesting the building of a 75-foot-tall cell phone tower.

But Wednesday morning the city of Eugene approved the plans with a few stipulations.

The golf course is slated to be the new home of an AT&T cell tower.

Golfers don’t seem to mind, but residents around the course say they’ll most likely appeal.

“A monopole is the design, so it’s not a lattice tower. It’s kind of a single pole with an antenna on top,” said Steve Oches, City of Eugene Associate Planner.

Neighbors complained the tower presented health risks, it’ll be loud, and stick out among the existing trees and one-story homes.

After public comment, the company has agreed to put the tower’s noisy operating-telecommunication cabinets underground.

“I should think a lot of the people opposed to the site, looking at it, would be rather happy,” said Franny Bishop.

But Bishop, whose yard is the course, would be surprised then to find many neighbors are angered about the cell tower approval.

“It’s still going to be ugly, guaranteed. Regardless whether you bury the box underground, there’s still going to be an 80 foot tower in my backyard,” said Mathew McMahon.

But golfers teeing off aren’t really ticked off by the cell tower.

“If it’s inconspicuous, I don’t have a problem with it. If it’s bothering people views of their homes condominiums, I mean I wouldn’t want it in front of my place,” said Kathy Reich.

Typically cell towers are found in industrial zones.

This would be the first in Eugene in such close proximity to a residential neighborhood, but golfers aren’t concerned about the cell radiation.

“It’s a lot farther away from you than the brain cells from the cell itself,” said golfer Frank Sprouse.

“There’s going to be a battle over every issue, but cell phone towers are definitely a necessity in our society now,” said golfer Dave Russell.

The soonest the construction could begin is six months from now, meaning there is time for those in opposition to the tower to appeal.

In 2010, the Swarthmore College golf team was plagued by rainy weather in the beginning of the spring and a lack of depth all season long. But with the return of its top three Centennial Conference performers from 2010 and a bevy of talented newcomers, the hope is that 2011 will be a turnaround season for the Garnet, with the squad setting its sights on battling for a conference title.

Under Coach Jim Heller, now in his sixth year, the Garnet have been steadily improving, and this trend doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Juniors Paul Weston and Alex Nichamin will head the team as co-captains and team leaders. As a freshman, Nichamin finished the season strongly, ending up third in the Centennial Conference Championships, which earned him a spot on the All-Conference Team. Last year, Weston, who was leading the CC Championships after the first day, earned All-Conference Honors himself, after finishing fifth overall. Both are looking to continue their individual success, and have high expectations for the team as a whole in 2011 as well.

The experience that Weston and Nichamin, who studied abroad in Scotland in the fall, have gained from competing at a high level in the tough Centennial Conference will be invaluable, as there are no seniors on the team this year. Kyle Krainock ’13, Jake Carter ’13, and Craig Pentrack ’13 will be returning as sophomores, and Alex Leichter ’12 will be back for his third year on the team.

After losing seniors Jeff Lazarus ’10 and Kelly Schoolmeester ’10, the Garnet will be a much younger team in 2011, with the addition of several talented freshmen looking to make immediate contributions, including Jeff Wall ’14, Sam White ’14, Kyle Knapp ’14, Price Ferchill ’14, Shreyas Ravi ’14, and Shen Wang ’14.

With so many players on the team, competition for the top spots is likely to be more intense than ever this year. The team has already gotten a jump start on the season by playing well in a few tournaments in the fall, including the Philadelphia University Tri-Match at the difficult Ace Club (Lafayette Hill, PA), in which Weston and Wall each shot 77 and earned co-medalist honors. Swat also played well at the second annual Swarthmore College Fall Invitational held at Rock Manor Golf Course (Wilmington, DE), finishing seventh out of 14 teams.

This spring, the Garnet will travel to Florida for a week in March, a break from the recent tradition of going to the Pinehurst Resort in NC. Once back on campus, the team starts competitive play immediately, with two home matches at the beautiful Rolling Green Golf Club (Springfield, PA), and the McDaniel Spring Invitational at The Bridges Golf Club (Abbottstown, PA) on March 26-27.

The season ends at the Centennial Conference Championships on April 29-30, being played again this year at Stonewall (Elverson, PA), and hosted by Ursinus College. The winning team earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Golf gets underway this weekend and the big news is that Tiger Woods is back. The defending champion is Hunter Mahan, who shot the lowest final round in tournament history — 6-under 64 — to win by two shots over Ryan Palmer at 12-under 268. Jim Furyk also shot 64 but finished five shots back.

Returning from an unexpected three-month break due to knee and Achilles injuries suffered at the Masters, Woods prepared for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational with a new caddie by his side and with a business-as-usual approach — even if much has changed since the last time he was in public view on a golf course.

Woods has dropped from eighth to 28th in the world ranking, fired his long-time caddie, Steve Williams, and is attempting to come back at a place where he’s enjoyed enormous success — and one of his greatest failures as a pro.

And yet Woods sounded upbeat during a 25-minute news conference Tuesday morning.

Saying he hasn’t felt this good in “years,” Woods stuck to his typical mantra that nothing has changed regarding his expectations, despite not having finished a tournament since the Masters in April. At the Bridgestone, he is playing the first two rounds with Darren Clarke (1:40 p.m. ET on Thursday, 9:50 a.m. ET Friday).

Tiger is not the only great golfer in this tournament as a few other have the potential to win.

One off those players is Luke Donald. The world’s No. 1 has cooled off considerably of late, going T-45, MC, T-17 after a run of eight straight top-10s on the PGA Tour. I’m not sure if this is the week for him to bounce back. His only week areas this season are driving distance (160th) and GIR (78th), arguably the two most important stats at Firestone. Regardless of who wins, this will be a great tournament to watch with Tiger in the mix.
