Below you will find a list of bookmakers and their rules on when a tennis bet has action.

The list includes all bookmakers where we are aware of their "action" rules for tennis. The list does not take into consideration whether the bookmaker is worth dealing with (take a look at our "Bookmakers" article).

We try to keep the list updated and accurate, however, if bookmakers change their rules we might not know right away. PuntersParadise.com is not responsible for any loses caused by using this list. To be sure you should check the rules section at your selected bookie. Please keep us informed if you know of any alterations that should be made to this list.

How to treat line changes

Posted on April 12, 2008 by Anders Nielsen | Articles

Line changes are part of life. Just as stock prices change by the minute so do lines on sports. This can be frustrating at times, but since we cannot avoid these changes we have to find a way to deal with them.

When you buy our newsletter you can trust that the lines we recommend to bet are available at major sports books at the time we distribute the newsletter. However, you should not waste your time waiting for our newsletter every day so occasionally prices might have changed a little or quite a bit since we released our recommendations.

In this article we give our suggestions on how to handle these line changes.

Line changes in favour of our recommendations.

If the line has changed to the better we suggest you stick to the units bet that we have recommended (eg. we recommend Miami Dolphins at +10, but a couple of hours later the line has changed to +13, or we recommend Liverpool -0,5 at 2,00, but now the line has changed to -0,5 at 2,3).

Why not bet more units when the line is much better?

There might be good reasons for the line to change to the better. In the time between our announcement and your reading the newsletter new information on the game in question may have been released and, with good reason, caused the line to change.

So should we bet the game at all when there is new information available on the game?

In our experience, when we find value in any sporting event, the value is still present at the new line. Sometimes, maybe, the line has still not fully adjusted, but in general we find that markets tend to overreact to player injuries, ect. So, as a general rule it should be fine just to stick to our unit recommendation when lines move in favour of our recommendations.

Line changes against our recommendations

When the line changes against our recommendations you should consider decreasing units bet. Line changes against our recommendations, maybe for good reasons (new information - in which case value should still be present when lines have fully adjusted), just as those changes in favour of our recommendations. However, more often  moves against our recommendations tend to be caused by the betting markets adjusting to the value we and other professional sports bettors have found. In this case the market is just eating the value until it is entirely gone.

Since we cannot make a general rule that take both possibilities into account we will have to go with the general rule that will make the most profits for our customers. We belive the table shown below is the best way to treat negative line changes on our recommendations.

Recommended line
Acceptable line

Recommended line

1.464

3.000
2.750
1.400
1.374

4.000
3.500

Some examples:

1. Liverpool has been recommended at 2,25 as a 1 unit bet.

You do not read the pick until three hours later when the line has changed to 2,10.
After the line change our recommendation has become a NO BET.

2. Liverpool has been recommended at 2,25 as a 2 unit bet.

You do not read the pick until three hours later when the line has changed to 2,10.
After the line change our recommendation has become a 1 unit bet.

3. Liverpool has been recommended at 2,25 as a 2 unit bet.

You do not read the pick until three hours later when the line has changed to 2,75.
After the line change our recommendation is still a 2 unit bet.

4. NY Yankees have been recommended at 3.00 as a 3 unit bet.

You don’t read the pick until three hours later when the line has changed to 2,450.
After the line change our recommendation has become a 1 unit bet. (for a line of 3,00 the table shows that you should stick with our recommended units until 2,75. If the line falls below 2,75 the bet still holds value, however, much less than before and therefore you should decrease you bet size by 1 unit, but the line has fallen below another level – there is still value, but now only enough for a 1 unit bet.)

The expamples does not cover all possiblities and the table is not contructed to cover all line ranges. However, it is our hope that this explanation of how to handle line changes will help you to make better judgements in the different situations that will occur every day in a sports bettor’s life.
